Weather Monitoring

Using wireless cellular-enabled weather equipment, report precipitation, humidity, barometric pressure, and wind speeds from a remote location.

Utility Monitoring

Connect smart meters to remotely monitor utility usages such as energy, water and gas. Get accurate data for cost saving insights and accurate billing.

HVAC Monitoring

Monitor the energy usage of HVAC systems with wireless power sensors. Remotely manage the runtime based on hours the building is occupied to help reduce costs and conserve energy.

Solar PV Monitoring

Track real-time and historical solar production with wireless solar monitoring devices. Collect data and provide easy to understand information for your customers. Monitor the health of panels to avoid losing out on potential energy production.

Tank Level Monitoring

Utilizing wireless sensors you can remotely monitor the level of various types of tanks for customers or businesses. Know when the level of natural gas, water, and chemicals are getting low and need refilling.

Smart Challenges

Smart meter technology is used on applications such as electric, gas, and water meters, as well as water pumps, storm drains, and oil and gas equipment. Because the use cases are so broad smart meters can be installed in various municipal and remote locations. Often these locations do not have connectivity such as wired internet or Wi-Fi. If these traditional types of connectivity are available, they can be unreliable, or would be more costly to connect to due to wiring.
To use smart meters to their full potential a reliable method of connectivity must be used. Furthermore, as utility companies adapt to smart meter technology the demand for reliable wireless connectivity will increase.

The Solution

Cellular connectivity has proven to be a reliable and widely available option for smart meters. With cellular connectivity each smart meter can safely connect to existing networks. This eliminates the need to hardwire or install expensive network gateways and access points.
Depending on the amount of data transmitted and the location of the meters, IoT SIM cards can be set to use cost-effective LPWAN (low-power WAN) such as NB-IoT or LTE-M networks. For meters consuming higher data and needing faster connectivity with low latency, 4G/LTE or 5G connectivity can also be used, permitted these networks are available in the area.
